You can watch videos when your computer is connected to the TV with a TV-Out device labeled as S-Video, TV-out, or Video-Out on the back of your graphics card.
For Windows XP: Right click anywhere on your desktop and select ‘properties’. Next select ‘settings’ tab and click the ‘advanced’ button. Select the tab for your graphics card, select ‘device settings’ and lastly select ‘TV’.
When the computer is shut down, connect the S-Video to RCA cable to the S-video out of the computer and to the ‘video in’ (yellow RCA jack) on the television. If your television has an “S-Video In” connector, you will just need to connect the single S-Video cable to your television. Ensure that your television is set to display the device port you just connected to the PC. You may have to change the television to S-Video/aux/Video1or2 with the remote control. The exact name of the input should be listed on the television by the port where you just connected the cable.
Once you boot up your computer, press the ‘Fn’ key and your computer's corresponding "F-number" key i.e. Toshiba laptops require you to press Fn+F5 simultaneously four times to get the TV-Out setting. Check your owner’s manual if you do not know what key combination to press.
You can now begin the video on your computer and it should display on your television screen.
